Hello Parents!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
Reminder: There will be no school on both Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be a day for teachers to prepare classrooms and Friday is a holiday. Cohort B received the remote packet to work on for Monday and Tuesday. In case students from Cohort A are looking for activities to do on Thursday, I am sending along the packet for them as well.
We have been talking about the change coming to our schools next week so if your child is feeling anxious or you have questions, please reach out!
Important Dates:
Wednesday, March 31 ~ Last remote day
Thursday, April 1 ~ No School - Professional Day
Friday, April 2 ~ No School - Holiday
Monday, April 5 ~ First Day of In-Person Learning for ALL students
Goals for the Week:
Phonics - We are adding new trick words to our word wall and reviewing "R-Controlled vowel sounds "-or, -ar, -ir, -er, & -ur."
Science - Students will continue to learn about transparent, translucent and opaque while working with flashlights and a variety of objects. They will also experiment with light vs. no light.
Social Studies - We will continue to talk about the 50 states with a focus on Massachusetts.
Math - We will wrap up fractions and continue to work on number combinations.
Reading Workshop - In order to become expert readers of our nonfiction books, we are paying attention to how are books are organized. For example, are they "All About" books filled with straight facts or are they teaching about a topic in story form?
Writing Workshop - In addition to trying out other writing tips such as making comparisons and using examples, we are using a checklist against our finished books to be sure that we have included all the important parts in our nonfiction pieces.
Have a great week!
Ms. Bedo
